2011: A Recap
Saturday 31st December, 2011 - 12:16pm with 2 comments
1. What did you do in 2011 that you’d never done before?
Been to a bunch of concerts! Five of them, my first five. ♥
2. Did you keep your New Years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn’t really make any… I had some goals throughout the year, most of which I kept to. I kept to at least 60% of it, which I say is pretty good.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.
5. What countries did you visit?
None. Unfortunately so far, my answers haven’t been too interesting, but…
6. What would you like to have in the new year that you lacked in this?
Patience. I lacked a fair bit of patience. I would really like to be more patient and a little more organised, because I was all over the place this year. I always plan to be more organised than I was in the latter half of the last year – because the latter half is usually where it gets wonky.
7. What date from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory?
22nd January, 30th July, 11th December, 16th December, 29th December… the best shows I’ve ever been to, so far, where I listened to amazing music and at a few, got a chance to meet my favourite musicians.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting two jobs, one which failed, but one which I love, so, so, much, and hope to keep for a long time to come.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Receiving a “Pass” grade in a subject. I didn’t honestly feel like a failure, and I shouldn’t have, but my teacher was so biased and gave me an unfair grade that it made me feel terrible.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I had colon problems for quite some time. It was really quite painful and I didn’t feel too good.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
My phone. :D Ah, not to mention tickets to my favourite shows, which just so happen to be my first five shows. I did win one of them, but yeah. :)
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Rachel. My awesome friend who kicked right back into web design. So proud of her!
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Someone I know online who I don’t want to mention. The endless complaining from this person was unbearable. The constant whinging and selfishness and immaturity. It was hard to put up with.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Photo paper omg. A hundred dollars a packet… honestly. Photo gear. All of my money went there.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Seeing Ben Jorgensen. Not to mention all the other shows I went to! But I think I was most excited for Ben Jorgensen. I did have an amazing time at the other shows though.
16. What song/album will always remind you of 2011?
Kosciuszko — an album by Jebediah. I think that the songs that sum up the year are definitely She’s Like A Comet by Jebediah and Your Love by Bob Evans.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a. happier or sadder? happier.
b. thinner or fatter? thinner. I lost weight due to my antidepressants.
c. richer or poorer? richer. I earn more money from my job, but I did spend a lot as well.
18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Being spontaneous. Because, girl, sometimes you need it.
19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Procrastinating. I was probably the worst at it this year.
20. How did you spend Christmas?
Just at home with the family, nothing new. I bought my family presents and none of them expected it because we don’t really give each other presents.
21. Who did you spend the most time on the phone with?
James or Rachel. I Skyped with James many nights in a row, and Rachel and I talked for hours and hours. I could check my Skype records, but either way I still want to mention these two close friends of mine. :)
22. Did you fall in love this year?
I’ve been in love since 2008. ♥ (Same answer as last year.) Though you could say I fell in love with Bob Evans’ music.
23. How many one night stands in this last year?
None.
24. What was your favourite TV programme?
Doctor Who, still, by far. Though I started watching Futurama and really enjoyed that too. :D
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
No. I don’t have that feeling of dislike, and I don’t think there are any new people I dislike. I did get really annoyed at Andy, and Mike, on occasions, but I don’t hate them and we’re on good terms now.
26. What was the best book(s) you read?
I don’t remember reading many books, but I read many in January. I did read a bunch in January, and Sun at Midnight by Rosie Thomas was one of them. It was amazing – a bit predictable, but not cheesy, and it was really heartwarming. I also read A Clockwork Orange which has stayed in the back of my mind for a very long time. It was hard to read because of the language but it was an amazing book. I don’t know if the movie is as good.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Jebediah. I mean, I went back to them. And it was like when I first got into their music. I loved it. And I got back into Blur too. I loved that – I had missed their stuff.
28. What did you want and get?
A DSLR, finally. :D
29. What did you want and not get?
I can’t say there was much, but I was pretty crushed not being able to see Jebediah in November. If I went in November, though, I would have not gone in December and chances are, as the November show was part of their Battle For November tour, there would have been more people and I wouldn’t have been able to meet Chris and Vanessa.
30. What were your favourite films of this year?
I didn’t see any films this year, sadly enough. I don’t think I even watched very many either.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Nothing much, I believe I stayed at home. It was a weekend. I turned 20.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Going to see Jebediah in November as well as December. That really annoyed me that my mum grounded me then. It really tore me up.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept this year?
I’m-trying-to-be-elegant-but-I-still-can’t-let-go-of-my-band-shirts.
34. What kept you sane?
My pills. I’m not that dependent on them, I swear. But they helped at the end of the year. :) I have to say that my music kept me sane.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Kevin Mitchell. I had a good crush on him after meeting him, and I never did before. Though you could say I was a tiny bit obsessed with Arthur Darvill. ;)
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
I’m not interested in politics… I wasn’t stirred by any issue, to be honest.
37. Who did you miss?
James, quite a few times. I missed talking to Rachel as well, and I must say, I missed Johnny and Fern.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
My boss, Cal. He’s awesome.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned this year.
The fist will bump the glove.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year?
“So don’t start freakin’ out
About what you deserve
No don’t start freakin’ out
About what you deserve”
Freakin’ Out — Jebediah
