#5: James – mok.heartdrops.org

I left James for number 5 for a reason. Every month on the 5th is our “monthsary” – we have been together since the 5th February 2008.

I love James a lot. I think I probably make that obvious enough. But he is such a gentle person, with a beautiful heart. People tend to judge him on first impressions; I’ll admit that I did, when we first met back in 2003. We didn’t talk much and he struck me as a quiet person until we became friends and I found that not only was he such a comedian (I even thought he’d make a perfect one), he was a really, really good friend.

The reason we got together is sort of simple, I guess – he saved me from someone else. Someone had been hurting me and the person I turned to for help was James, because James knew the mindset of said someone – and he knew he wasn’t worth all this pain.

James is a wonderful person. It is so hard to describe him in words. He respects me, and he respects what I think. Even thought we have arguments over little things, I realise that despite this, we love each other too much to even think of ending things over silly fights.

I love that James has been there for me when I need him. He listens to me when I need to rant, and he’s my shoulder to cry on. We still talk to each other over the phone, because even just hearing his voice gives me some kind of consolation.

James isn’t a sleaze or a loser – like I said earlier, he’s a gentle person. He might make crude jokes sometimes but it’s just for laughs. He is very caring and kind, and he always knows how to cheer me up. We have our own kind of “language”, I guess you could say, and our own inside jokes. ^_^;

We are such different people. I guess we were friends because our interests both circulated around games and rock music, but even now we realise we’re very different. I’m into dancing and web designing, whereas he is into woodwork and archery. There are small things we agree on and love to discuss… but what I find amazing is the amount of things we can talk about without thinking the other party is weird, the number of things we can talk about, and the fact that we can be close about anything.

In a way… I love that our relationship isn’t “typical”. We don’t go out and see movies and go parties and shit. We’re adventurous, and we love going to new places. We go to places like the aquarium. We take walks in parks and walk his dog Keeks. We cook food together. I love the time that I spend with him.

I think that the biggest reason I love James a lot is that he’s not just a ‘lover’, he’s my friend. And that’s how I think relationships should be. ♥ ♥
