#7: Georgia Kate – decimated.org

Georgia Kate is an amazing person. I’ve known her for about two years now, though I can’t calculate all that well. Actually, it’s more than two years. She lives in “dreary England”, far from my little home of Australia, and we’re always complaining about how dodgy the timezones are.

And a great lot of this will be leeched from the ‘about’ page I wrote on the fanlisting I created for her, but what’s the problem with that? Because everything still applies because she’s still the amazing person she was when I made that fanlisting over a year ago.

When we first met, she and I had rather amateur graphic designing skills. I had just started out using Photoshop and delving out of iframes, and she might have been in that stage of using pre-made layouts (the stage I never personally went through). Back then she was in the midst of writing a wonderful novel titled Rayfire, and that too was her site name.

She was so much younger than me, younger by six years or so, and we weren’t all that close in the beginning when we started out as affiliates. I watched her progress through web design, and she applied for a website review from my site. I was amazed at how far she had progressed from using pre-made layouts to this amazing layout she had hand-drawn, scanned and coded herself. From then, I knew for sure that Georgia was a talented and dedicated person.

That might have been the time when we got to know more about each other, despite me flooding her tagboard with long messages because she didn’t have a commenting system.

After some time we found out that we had so much in common. Mostly in music. Armor For Sleep, My Chemical Romance (okay, me not so much), and most of all, Nirvana. I guess that’s how we came to talk more. Oh, and not to mention being grammar Nazis or “grammar gonks”, despite Georgia’s several weeks of trying to spell “acronym” correctly. :P

As I mentioned, Georgia is extremely talented. She’s a wonderful drawer. And in nearly all (well, probably all, I’ve been too blown away by their amazingness to remember) her layouts, she has hand-drawn elements of them. As she progressed to use a graphic editor to further her knowledge, her layouts only got better.

Georgia is a wonderful writer. Her poetry has so much emotion and her stories tell more than just a story. Her blogs are inspiring, and she writes with such flow. She has more maturity than three hundred typical thirteen-year-olds will ever have, and is a bright, intelligent girl. She is so original, especially with what she does on her website, and she’s such a genuine person.

Despite our fat age gap (who cares?), we talk about anything and everything. Georgia listens to me rant so much, and I am so appreciative of how caring she is. I love our endless comment and email conversations and that she always keeps a watchful eye out for me. I couldn’t ever forget her; she is one of my closest friends in the ‘web world’, and one day I just know we’ll meet in person and go on a round-the-world trip. She is always there to listen and she always finds a way to make me laugh. :D

(This is the seventh in a series of I am not sure how many numbers there will be; part of the Love Is… project.)
