A disquieted state of mixed apprehension

The way an apology is cheapened, my dear ‘sister’ Lilian told me, is to go and dare to repeat your mistake. An apology is meant to be sincere and truthful.

What happened to the idea of truth, partnered with honesty? The solicitude in any given relationship for any other party? What happened to some sense of symbiosis or a minor degree of selflessness? Truly, no act is entirely selfless and would even have the slightest fraction of personal gain – be it the satisfaction in performing such an act, or the knowledge that comes after performing a good deed – so Rachel pointed out.

People don’t pour out their hearts to others for no reason. People will give where they see fit.

Most of the time, they want something in return. Even if it is a more sincere acceptance of concern or a more demure sign of gratefulness.

People need to be more modest.

Instead of being cold.

People need to apologise for their wrongdoings.

And actually mean it.
