Reflection: April 2011

Friday 29th April, 2011 - 11:18pm with 0 comments

For the first time ever (and excuse my yawning), I have finished my monthly goals (April) before the end of the month. In previous months I’ve given myself that extra five days until the fifth of the next month. This month I’ve finished everything and I’m absolutely ecstatic, probably more ecstatic to start on a new goals list. Starting early is no problem at all!

That said though, I shouldn’t focus too much on goals especially when university is going to take over very soon. My break is ending and there are definitely some things I need to take care of before uni goes back. Yuck.

Looking over the month – today I finished the second book I was reading. I read two books; Fishboy by Mark Richard, and Like Color to the Blind by Donna Williams. The latter was definitely more interesting. The former was very dark; reminded me a little of Lord of the Flies in a sea setting. It was hard to follow. I didn’t really like the book as a whole. It was written well but it was confusing. Now I know how people feel when I write way too metaphorically. :X

The latter, as I said – more interesting. It’s an autobiographical work in a series of four, written by a woman with autism. This book reminded me of my friend Daniel, and it definitely opened up my mind more to the world behind people who suffer from autism. I’m glad I picked up this book rather than the others in the series; it seemed the most deep and something I could relate to a little, especially in the understanding of what was a relationship of love. (Somehow, I got the American version – “Color”… the author was born in Australia and lived in the UK.)

The two fanlistings I revamped were Doctor Who: 1.08 Father’s Day and profiteroles/cream puffs. Both are relatively new fanlistings to me and it felt good to give those the revamp they needed. They were definitely a little messy.

Two icon tutorials? Check. I named them Deep Purple and Bitter Red.

I love the new layout I put up on Eyethief.com. I saw that photograph of Amy and Rory from Doctor Who, and just had to use it. It’s gorgeous. And I’m very proud of the layout, indeed. :)

I painted my fingernails purple, then that colour all chipped eventually. Michael told me to stop scratching it off, because tiny fragments of dry paint just went all over my clothes. :P I actually painted my nails again the other day, black this time. The thumb nails, though, are tipped with black, and painted over in yellow glitter. It’s already chipping, sadly…

The ramen was good. :) I got pretty full. I think I’ll try a different flavour next time, or just go elsewhere. It was good but it wasn’t all that fantastic.

Watching so much Doctor Who this month drove me mad, but I’m all caught up, just in time, because the second episode of the new series is out in a day.

The new song I learned on guitar was Honey and the Moon by Joseph Arthur. It’s a gorgeous song and as soon as I heard it, I just had to learn it. I don’t have it perfect (I was thinking I might have it perfect enough to feel comfortable recording, but I didn’t reach that point)… but I did make up for it by touching up on some other songs on guitar that I had forgotten.

It was today that I reached 31,167 words in my novel. I didn’t think I could do it and I kept putting it off. But I’m back in the world of my two main characters and I’m pretty much halfway through my whole novel. I’m happy. :D

And yes, Heartdrops.org is all cleaned up. I simply deleted the pages. Some need to actually be re-done, but I only specified deleting. So… all good there.

Don’t know what’s in store for next month just yet… but we’ll see! :D
